Ethers

Ethers are represented as chains of carbons that have one or more ether/oxy groups (-O-) that divide the main carbon chain/structure. Ethers can be either aliphatic or aromatic, aliphatic meaning the molecule is a branched chain that is open and contains no aromatic rings (or cyclic without delocalized electrons), and aromatic meaning that they contain an aromatic ring or have a cyclic structure with delocalized electrons on the structure.
